Randy's Old Time Radio Shows

'Your Gateway to the Greatest Old Time Radio Shows of Yesteryear'

Back in 1964 my father refused to put a television set in the house. I don't ever remember having one until the next door neighbor gave us their old one, after they bought a new one. Before that all we had for entertainment was a old large radio. Not long after getting that new fanged TV my father put the old huge radio that we had sitting in the living room out to the curb for trash pickup. Before he even walked back into the house, a car driving by screeched to a halt and could not believe my dad was throwing out that old radio! I only remember it seemed taller than I was and for sure it out weighed me, had lots of buttons and a bright dial! I can still see it in my mind but have never seen one in the old catalogs.

Well that was the last time I ever listened to WXYZ radio and Old Time Radio until I rediscovered Old Time Radio in the mid 1990.

Over the years I spent a lot of time on the road driving and began listening to OTR on tapes. But tapes were so expensive! My wife would buy me a pack of six and before the day was out, I would be have listen to the whole pack.

One night I was scanning the AM radio stations and came across a station in Chicago. Soon I found one In Cincinnati and then one on Des Moines and Los Angeles. For the next several years, I had at least one hour of OTR I could listen to. Sometimes the stations were clear, sometimes they barely came in.

In 1997 I was talked into getting on the Internet and one of my first searches was for OTR. Found a Fibber McGee site and not long after that I started a site of my own. I quit traveling so I never got the chance to enjoy listening to all of my collection as I drove.

Randy's Old Time Radio Shows went from with 50 shows at the start to now over 60,000. I continue to collect as many as I can to keep open a avenue where the OTR Community can find OTR shows with little to no hassle.

I was born in 1954 and raised in the Detroit Michigan area and now live in the small township of Raisenville which is located about 35 miles south of Detroit. Currently I spend about 18 hours a day working on my OTR collection in one way or another.

Married to Lori 17 years we have 5 Kids between us from previous marriages but none between Lori and myself. Currently we have 5 Grandsons. We are expecting 1 more grandson in June 2006.

My goal is to bring you as many shows as I can to expand your collection and listening pleasure.

As long as I can I will continue to bring you as many new shows as I can, as often as I can.

Well thats about it.
